Turkish Airlines aircraft crashes while approaching Amsterdam Airport Schiphol
At 10:31 this morning, while preparing to approach the runway at Amsterdam Airport Schiphol, flight TK 1951 from Istanbul made a crash landing along the A9 motorway near the Rottepolderplein in the village of Haarlemmerliede.
The Boeing 737-800 aircraft, which was carrying 128 passengers and 7 crew members, broke into three sections upon impact.
Relief services are currently attending the aircraft. Nine passengers have died and over 50 are wounded as a result of the crash.
Air traffic to and from Amsterdam Airport Schiphol is gradually being resumed.
