Unfälle (Zwischenfälle/Sicherheitslandungen) mit Flugzeugen

Meckl hat gesagt.:
WASHINGTON, March 24 (Reuters) - U.S. safety investigators are looking into two runway near misses in Chicago this week, renewing examination of ground safety efforts.

The National Transportation Safety Board said on Friday the incidents occurred on Tuesday afternoon and Thursday morning at O'Hare airport, and highlighted concerns about air traffic controllers' procedures for managing congested runways and taxiways.

In the first incident, a Lufthansa Airbus A319 and an aircraft operated by a regional airline, Chautauqua Airlines, a unit of Republic Airways, were rolling down intersecting runways at the same time when a controller noticed they were headed for each other.

Qatar aircraft makes emergency landing in Delhi

New Delhi:A Qatar Airways aircraft carrying 221 passengers on board made an emergency landing at the Delhi airport following a "major engine trouble", airport sources said.
The aircraft, coming from Doha to Delhi, landed safely at 10.50 am and the passengers are safe.

The pilot of the Airbus A-330 aircraft informed the Air Traffic Control of the "engine shutdown" and the plane was taken to a remote bay, the sources said.

Full emergency was declared at the airport and all incoming and outgoing traffic was closed for about 45 minutes to enable the aircraft to land, they said.

The passengers were offloaded from the aircraft at the remote bay.

Klingt eher abenteuerlich...

USA proposes absolute life limits on airframes to combat fatigue dangers

The US Federal Aviation Administration is proposing setting limits on airliner age for the first time, in a bid to prevent fatigue damage.

Earlier this week, the FAA issued a notice for proposed rulemaking (NPRM) detailing several anti-fatigue damage measures. Among them is a requirement to establish operational maxima on all aircraft cetrificated in the transport category. These life limits would go beyond the current maintenance obligations, based on cycles. At present manufacturers estimate a service life, but there are no restrictions on flying the aircraft beyond that if it meets safety checks.

The FAA will have to work with all manufacturers and those who hold the design rights for older types, to establish a final rule on whether such absolute maxima are needed. After that each type coudl be issued an operational life limit at time of certification, based on cycles and years in service.

The new rule, if adopted, would lower resale values of aircraft, which would have to be operated outside the USA and Europe, which has similar rules. The FAA estimates the cost to airline industry at $330 million over 20 years, with an additional $30 million cost to airframers.
