Lufthansa Italia

Lufthansa hat verlauten lassen, die nächsten 2 Jahre keine Langstrecken ab Mailand geplant zu haben!! (Zumindest nach aktuellem Stand)
Wer also was anderes behauptet...:dead:

Überdies sollen im Herbst, wenn das italienische AOC angestrebt wird, nur sechs Maschinen an LH Italy abgegeben werden. Zwei Maschinen werden wieder nach Deutschland rücküberführt.

In ital.

Hallo!

As informed by Mr. Bonomi, president of SEA-Milan Airports, some week ago at a convention in Milan, next new national destinations of LHI from MXP: Catania and Palermo.

New code share will be actived soon with SN Brussels.

After a first test-selection in Hamburg (14 and 14 April) fot LHI pilot (LHI need at the moment 50 pilots) with 35 candidates (they become around 600 requests) a second test selection will be made at the end of this Month (also 35 p.)

Tschuss-Ciao!

Many of them are good guys....
Concerning the first long range LHI destinations they are working on for this year as anticipate by the VP of LH,...I feel you know ;)

Tschuss/Ciao

LHI Longrange from MXP with own metal and own Lufthansa Crews in 2009?
Definetly not!
BUT: There is maybe a chance to see some Privatair flights for LHI in 2009/2010.
Later on, if LHI was established and successful, everything is possible outside the Lufthansa passage pool of aircrafts and flightcrews for LHI

Privat Air was rumor of one year ago, LHI will operate on MXP airport as hub carrier end not ptp only as discussed directly with some managers of LH.
The declaration of Mr. Karl Ulrich Garnadt (LH) in many meetings and conventions in Milan (as also the president of SEA-Milan Airports) are very clear on that point as Milano (together with Star Alliance parteners) will become a LH Hub in 3-4 years.
Of course the economical situation it's a problem, but the program and agreemet between Lufthansa AG and SEA Spa (sine the 2016) and investments as not changed.
For LH the hole created by Alitalia on Milan is a big opportunity specially in this moment as th north Italy is the most important market for LH outside Germany in Europe, the current LHI fly are going quite well with 20% of the pax on transit to other LH, LHI Star Alliance fly on the european and intercocontinental destinations (also with different interline agreements as with Etihad for example).
We will se, by the way the staff of LH from Koln is working in MXP by 14 Months and every Months there is a general meeting (SEA and LH staff).

Soon LHI will open a second island of personalized chech-in a Terminal 1 and also personal gates at Satellite B (non schenghen) as just made at Sat A.

Ciao!

Ciao!

thanks for sharing your infos! I agree, in a couple of years MXP could become another major LH Hub. But it takes quite a while to develop and establish a safe and qualified operations with the own LHI AOC and own (transferred) LHI aircrafts. The bigger problem will be the acceptance by the Lufthansa passage pilots. Understandable in my opinion! Growing outside the company with the brand 'Lufthansa' on the metal? Some people named it outsourcing... Not an easy way to find a solution...

Prego! (Bitte!)

I agree with you, we neet at least three years in order to get again a hub thanks to Lufthansa (but also Star Alliance partenrs that in this case they will have play a huge game on this project "piano Scala".
Concerning the question for the pilots I feel that at the beginning we will have for LHI a mixed team with "new pilots" and some from LHD.

At that moment the most important step is to create a continental network (eurpean and national dest.) in order to feed the long range destinations (Star and LHI).

The hard work of the LH and SEA Team of the last year is just possible to see at MXP airport, the sat. A sometime is full of LH and LHI metals, never see something in other airports outside Germany, Lufthansa Technik is just operative with home personal and machines and soon they will get 2 hangars (1 for regional airpl. and another for WB) ex Alitalia.

Also Lufthansa Cargo is going to increase the operations, at the moment with one MD11F (based) but for the end of the year the number of MD11F could be three (just planed).
Jade Cargo will move also the operations from Brescia-Montichiari to MXP during this year.

The Load Factor of LHI flys is going very well (also during this bad moment) and the customers are very happy to fly also on the first national routes, next destinatios (as informed by the president of SEA); Palermo and Catania and for the end of the year (maybe with the winter schedule) the first feder fly of Air Dolomiti from some selected italian destinations (as Triest/Venedig, Florenz/Pisa, Ancona/Pescara).

Next week there is a second selection in Hamburg for LHI pilots, I will get more info about the situation asap.

Bye!

Lufthansa Chairman and CEO Wolfgang Mayrhuber predicted Friday that LH's 2009 operating profit will be "distinctively positive" despite the economic downturn.

Speaking at the company's annual general meeting in Cologne, he conceded that 2009 earnings likely will be "substantially below" 2008, for which LH posted net income of €599 million ($760 million) (ATWOnline, March 12). But he insisted its business model is strong and predicted it will perform better than many of its competitors.

"The quality of a company can. . .be determined in whether it must correct its strategic course during times of crisis. This is not the case at Lufthansa--on the contrary," he said, explaining that its strategy of acquiring assets in Europe and building international alliances is sound. "Lufthansa should continue to develop its airline group and should strengthen its alliance and partnerships," he said. "Important foundations have been laid in the consolidation process. The further consolidation of airlines in Europe is a prerequisite in order to be able to succeed in global competition."

Earlier last week in Frankfurt, LH Passenger Airlines Executive VP-Marketing and Sales Thierry Antinori told media that the carrier will continue to target premium passengers despite the worldwide plunge in business travel (ATWOnline, April 17). "Our target is a bigger piece of the pie, and a much bigger piece when [premium travel] becomes a big market again," he said. The company will invest €150 million in its lounge product over the next four years, including a new facility in Mumbai.

He also said LH will focus its investment on particular markets and regions, as it has done with its Milan Malpensa-based subsidiary Lufthansa Italia. Markets where the oil and gas industry are prevalent will be of particular interest, and a source close to the carrier told ATWOnline that LH plans to base two A340-300s at MXP in order to start long-haul operations.
