NATO Party at Baden-Baden

The Nato party is really screwing up our planning for our trip to Friedrichshafen but im trying to work around it.

In the official papers and maps there is a small corridor between the no-fly zone and Stuttgart TMA and it looks like it's a good alternative to squeeze my formation of 30 small aircraft threw there.

My question is: Am I wrong? is the corridor not flyable?

I didn't check the NOTAMs regarding the exact restrictions around Baden-Baden. But the gap looks in deep pretty narrow, about 2-3 NM. Too close for comfort - I'd say.

Depending on your NAV- and COM equipment as well as the planned cruising Altitude I'd prefer a controlled cross through the EDDS D or C-Airspace. However it might worth checking out if Stuttgart accepts that many aircraft in a short period of time. Maybe AIS in EDDF can provide a contact?

By the way: How did you get slots for 30 ULs at EDNY?

Best regards and have a safe flight!

We have been doing this trip for the last 8 years and there is no problem at EDNY regarding slots, they are really friendly and helpful.

Hey. I try to do my best to help you. So get it started.

I think that Stuttgart APP won't accepct your flight's through Airspace C, cause they have to do Seperation between you and the IFR flights. Airspace D looks bit better cause, you don't need Seperation. All to do is, keep VFR clear of IFR, so at least 1 cm above, below or to each side. I would never seperate that low, but the chances are better in there. But the best way is to fly below Airspace C and around the D CTR. All you have to do is keep your aircraft below 3500 ft MSL and away from your black circle and the CTR. Sounds pretty easy, but i don't know if this is fine with you.
Maybe you can fly around the CTR on the eastern side. In that case you won't get in trouble with the NATO Birthday.
If you got any questions on that, feel free to ask. I will do my best to help you as good as i can.

Eric

Just thought of going thru the CTR, but in that case a phone call with Stuttgart Tower prior to your trip would be better. Cause they know if they can approve that or not.

by the way, we appreciate some photos in our forum about your formation flight if possible...;)

In 2007, 25 planes. Great fun, great flying. But it takes 6 months to plan a trip like this.

30 planes x 300 meter separation = 9km of airspace.
But we fly in groups of 5
